The Pet Blends® have many uses...
For Separation AnxietyMany animals can become stressed, destructive or anxious when apart from their family or owner. To help calm the feelings of separation anxiety give the Comfort Blend daily, in food or treats.
For animals that are acutely anxious you can also give them drops of Relax Blend during times of stress. |
For fear of Fireworks and StormsAdd a few drops of Relax Blend to small, tasty treats and give every 10-15 minutes or until calmer (or dab on your pet's mouth area). Also in the days before fireworks or thunderstorms - give 3 times daily (e.g. morning, afternoon and evening) for best outcomes.
Also add a small squirt of Relax Blend in your pet's water bowl. If your pet is nervous by nature then you can give the Courage Blend 3 times daily to help gently address those underlying anxieties and, if they experience something frightening, give a few drops of Relax Blend (the Relax Blend can be used whilst they are taking another Pet Blend, if required). |
For TrainingIf your pet is having difficulty with their training because they are too wilful then use the Mellow Blend to help 'mellow' their behaviour and to aid better training.
Perhaps your pet is too 'distracted', hyperactive or disruptive to focus on training. If so, use the Balance Blend to help settle their unruly behaviour. Alternatively, your pet may be too anxious to train, or they may be lacking in confidence. If this describes your pet then use the Courage Blend to help with their confidence and calm their nervousness. |
For a stay at the Kennels or CatteryTo help settle your cat or dog into a stay at a cattery or kennels give them the Comfort Blend by adding drops to their food or treats, 3 times daily for up to 10 days prior to their stay. This will help prepare them for the unsettled feelings and anguish of separation anxiety. Remember to give the owners of the kennels/cattery a bottle of Comfort Blend to give to your pet whilst in their care.
For animals that are acutely anxious you can also give them drops of Relax Blend during times of stress. |
For Bereavement or Loss - PiningAs a pet owner you'll know that animals can feel the anguish of bereavement - just as humans do. We 'grieve' - animals 'pine'. They can become confused and unsettled when they lose a companion, be that an owner or an animal friend.
To soothe your pet and to help them accept the loss, and change in situation, give the Comfort Blend daily, in the few weeks or months following a bereavement or loss - to gently help them adapt to their new circumstance. |
For Recovery or ApathyIf your pet is recovering from being unwell or is recuperating after an accident or operation you can give the Vigour Blend 3 times daily to help give them a boost and raise their spirits. The Pet Blends® are not designed to treat physical problems but, if the animal is feeling down or dispirited then it can slow their recovery. By giving the Vigour Blend it can help aid their emotional recovery and ultimately help them to get better, quicker.
Also, immediately after an accident or shock, give drops of Relax Blend every few minutes until calmer. This can also be given to help ease the emotional stress after an operation. People can get depressed either through negative experiences or because of illness: the same can be said of animals. If your pet is down, sad, unhappy or apathetic then give drops of Vigour Blend 3 times daily to gently and gradually help lift them out of their gloom. (Or for bereavement use the Comfort Blend.) |
For Adapting to ChangesAnimals can find it difficult to adjust to changes such as a sudden new addition to the family: a new kitten or puppy; a new baby or a new family member. They can feel unsettled by house renovations, when you 'have the builders in' or are doing a big re-decorate! The Comfort Blend can help to calm the unsettled feelings experienced by a change of any sort.
Some animals can also can find it hard to adjust if their physical ability is reduced because of illness, injury or old age. The Comfort Blend or the Vigour Blend can help with this. If your dog or cat is being overly dominant towards your new puppy or kitten (or visa versa!) give drops of Mellow Blend daily to help gently reduce those overbearing behaviours. |
For Re-homingWhether it's a horse being sold-on to a new owner, or a rescue dog preparing for a new home, or a cat who has lost its elderly owner and must be re-homed with a new family - all may need help settling into their new environment. Give the Comfort Blend daily, and finish the whole bottle, to help them more easily adjust to their new surroundings.
|
For Rescue AnimalsAnimals in a Rescue Home fit all the criteria for the Comfort Blend. They may be suffering from Separation anxiety, bereavement and loss, whilst also having to adjust to a strange, unfamiliar environment. To help them settle give drops of Comfort Blend daily and finish the whole bottle - like a course of treatment.
And when they find a new family, don't forget to send them off with a bottle of Comfort Blend to help them settle into their new home. Also, if you have just got a new pet from a rescue home you can help them settle-in by giving them a bottle of Comfort Blend. |
For SocialisationThe Pet Blends® are useful for all animals who need help with socialisation, for example:
These issues can apply to any animal - dog, cat, horse etc. Animals can also be helped by using training techniques whilst they are on the Pet Blend. Animal trainers report greatly enhanced outcomes when their clients use the Pet Blends®. |
For a Visit to the GroomersFor some animals a visit to the grooming parlour can be a confusing and sometimes scary experience, they can feel anxious and restless. If this describes your pet put a few drops of Relax Blend on a small treat and give it to them half an hour before the appointment. If your pet is particularly frightened you may want to give a few more dosages, 10 minutes apart, throughout the session.
If your pet is nervous by nature then you can give the Courage Blend 3 times daily to help gently address those underlying anxieties. And use the Relax Blend, when needed, as described above. |
After an AccidentIf your pet has injured him/her self then put a few Relax drops on a small treat and give that to your pet. The Relax Blend is not a cure but it can help to take the edge off the emotional shock and trauma. (If your pet is unable to take treats see tips on the Relax Blend page here.) The Relax Blend can also be used to help soothe your pet as they recover from illness, upset or injury.
|
For Show Nerves and 'Ring Shy'Some animals can find the hustle and bustle of the show ring all a bit overwhelming and scary. To help prepare your dog / cat / horse for the 'big day' put a few drops on a small treat and give 3 times daily, for 3 days leading up to the show.
On the day of the show give a few drops whenever they are anxious. Creature Comforters®' Relax Blend can help to take the edge off any performance nerves. Your pet will remain alert and active - the Relax Blend helps ease the stress. We also have a Blend for people: animals can pick-up on an owner's anxiety therefore try the Chill Out Blend to help gently calm your own performance nerves. If your pet is nervous by nature then you can give the Courage Blend to help gently address those underlying anxieties. Or if your show pet is not anxious but is instead hyperactive, unfocussed and difficult to train, then give them a course of the Balance Blend to help settle their behaviour, over time. |
For a visit to the VetMany animals find this a frightening experience so put a few drops of Relax Blend on a small treat and give that to your pet half an hour before the appointment. If your pet is particularly frightened you may want to give a few more dosages, 10 minutes apart. (If your pet isn't having an operation and is allowed to eat and drink, of course). The Relax Blend can help to take the edge off the acute anxiety and it can also help them get over the stress quicker.
If your pet is nervous by nature then you can give the Courage Blend to help gently address those underlying anxieties. |
For TravelFor long journeys add drops of Relax Blend to treats or food, and give 3 times daily for up to a week before travel. Also give a couple of extra doses before any trip.
For a short journey give your pet a few drops just before leaving and, if necessary, during the journey. Also give 'Relax' during the journey, if your pet is stressed. You can add to treats or dab around the mouth area. |
For helping injured wild animalsIf you find an injured wild animal give them a few drops of Relax Blend.
For example, if you are caring for an injured bird, put one drop on their beak, every 30 minutes. This can help to take the edge of the emotional shock and trauma. Read a case study where this was used to help an injured robin here... |
Flower Essences are suitable for all animals, young or old, large or small:

The Pet Blends® don't have to be given forever!
Usually one or two bottles, given in succession, is often enough to improve your pet's behaviour sufficiently, over time as the bottle is finished. Most owners observe improvement after administering one complete bottle (one bottle per animal). Some animals may need to have a few more bottles, in succession, this depends on the depth or complexity of their problem and, of course, if the correct Pet Blend has been chosen for them. If you need advice on which Pet Blend to choose please try our PET BLEND FINDER Many animals, particularly dogs, will also benefit from using the Pet Blends® alongside professional training techniques plus a good healthy diet, rewards for good behaviour with plenty of exercise and love. Occasionally some animals may return to their old ways (their unwanted behaviours) over their lifetime. If so another course of Pet Blends® can be given. Some animals may benefit from a Personalised Blend - especially if they have complex problems requiring individual attention (see below). The Pet Blends® can be given indefinitely if you wish. They are gentle products. If you have given your animal a few bottles of the Blend, try easing off the drops (when the bottle is finished) to see if their behaviour is permanently improved. This will mean that they would no longer need to take the Pet Blend. If ever the behaviours return then you can start another course of Pet Blends®, or try a bespoke Personalised Blend (see below). For any animals who don't show sufficient improvement from taking their Pet Blend this may be for a number of reasons, for example; the choice of Blend may not be quite right for that animal’s problem, or the animal may additionally benefit from a change in circumstances, handling, environment, training etc. Furthermore, some animals may instead require a specially-made Personalised Blend for their individual problem. Gentle, natural and easy to use. |
Pet Blends® FAQs
How long does a bottle last?
Answer: It usually takes between 3-6 weeks to finish the bottle.
Five of our Pet Blends® (Comfort, Courage, Vigour, Mellow and Balance) should be given 3 times daily, continually - until the bottle is finished - like a course of treatment. See instructions on label. Large animals, such as horses, will finish their bottle sooner than 3 weeks (around 2.5 weeks) because they are given more drops in each dosage. The 6th Pet Blend - 'Relax' does not have to be given every day. Usually only when needed. The Pet Blends® have a shelf-life of 2 years from when freshly bottled. Store in a cool, dry place. My ANIMAL seems to need 2 of the Pet Blends®, which one should I use?
A: If your animal needs aspects of more than one of our Pet Blends® we would recommend a Personalised Blend for him/her, from our qualified Advanced Practitioner.
Using a sample of your pet's fur, mane or feathers our Flower Essence Practitioner will make a special Blend with ingredients specially chosen to help address your pet's specific and individual emotional or behavioural needs. Consultations can be provided postally. > Please visit our Consultations page for more details. If you need help choosing the correct Pet Blend you can try our Pet Blend Finder. Do I have to give my ANIMAL their Pet Blend forever?

Many animals, particularly dogs, will also benefit from using the Pet Blends® alongside professional training techniques plus a good healthy diet, rewards for good behaviour and plenty of exercise. What are the Pet Blends® ingredients?
A: They contain Flower Essences (MET of CCFE and Bach Remedies 0.2% ABV), spring water, food-grade vegetable glycerine (used as the natural preservative) - Kosher certified, Free from GMO. The Pet Blends® contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. We use 100% chemical-FREE ingredients.
Glycerine is a natural additive commonly given to dogs, cats, horses and cattle in their food, to help with their general health. To learn more about Glycerine please read this article by the 'Global Healing Center' > What is Vegetable Glycerine? On Wikipedia there is a page with general information on all forms of Glycerine, also known as > Glycerol Glycerine is heavier in weight than water and therefore the Pet Blends® (that contain glycerine) are sold by litres (50ml) not by weight. It is clear, odourless liquid with the consistency of thick syrup. Extracted from vegetable oils through hydrolysis. Pure grade made to food standard, kosher grade, super high quality. ABV means 'Alcohol by Volume'. 0.2% ABV in the MET is a minuscule amount and is perfectly safe for animals of all types, breeds, sizes and ages. The Pet Blends® and Flower Essences have been safely used by hundreds of thousands of animals for many decades. Flower Essence MET is preserved in alcohol and 50% spring water, before being added as a few drops to the Pet Blends® bottle. For nearly 80 years people have given neat Flower Essences to animals which can be up to 36% ABV, therefore just 0.2% ABV in the Pet Blends® is an extremely insignificant amount. For example and as a comparison: significantly greater amounts than 0.2% ABV of alcohol can naturally occur in a human’s or an animal’s bloodstream through the process of digestion and fermentation of food [1]. And fruit juices typically contain a naturally occurring ABV of 0.1% [2]. There is little or no actual fibre of the Flower Essence plant in our Blends, it is the 'energy signature' of the plant - the pure 'Mother Essence Tincture' used as the active ingredient. To learn more about this, and how it works, please go to our Flower Essences Explained webpage. Ingredients includes lists for each of the Pet Blends® can be found on the following webpages: As with all remedies and medicines, keep out of reach of children. If symptoms persist please consult a veterinarian. Please store bottle in a cool, dry place below 77F, away from direct sunlight See full ingredients list and instructions on product label.
Please note: the PDF file above does not open in a new window.
Therefore to return to this page please use your browser < 'Back' button Do professionals use the Pet Blends®?
A: Yes. They are used by vets and veterinary nurses, animal trainers, rescue homes including the RSPCA, animal behaviourists, groomers and animal competition competitors.
The Pet Blends® are used to help aid performance in disciplines and competitions such as: gymkhana, agility, horse shows, cat shows, dressage, racing, dog shows Will the Pet Blends® make my dog/cat/horse/etc. Drowsy?
A: The Pet Blends® don't work like conventional sedatives, instead they are designed to naturally address the root of the problem rather than temporarily masking unwanted behaviours with sedation.
For example, if your dog is showing aggression then this may be through deep-seated fear (nervous aggression). The Mellow Pet Blend is designed to address those underlying feelings of fear and thus the unwanted behaviours can reduce or, for some animals, disappear. In this gentle and timely way their aggressive or dominant behaviour is improved. Can I give my pet 2 different Pet Blends® at the same time?
A: If you think your pet needs 2 different Pet Blends® it is better for them to have a Personalised Blend - please go to our Consultations webpage for more details.
It is OK for them to have 2 different Pet Blends® at the same time. However, neither of the Blends may work as well as they should because they may counteract each other. However, if they are on a course of one of the Pet Blends® they can also have the Relax Blend at the same time - as-and-when needed, for example in emergencies, for shocks and sudden traumas etc. Does it matter if another of my pets has some of a Pet Blend not intended for them?
A: No it wont matter. It is okay if another pet unintentionally has some of a Pet Blend not meant for them, e.g. from a shared water bowl

Why use Flower Essences for Animals?
Anyone who has a pet or works with animals knows that they can suffer with emotional as well as behavioural problems. They can experience a similar range of responses as us, such as fear, rage, jealousy, sadness and anxiety. That is where Flower Essences can gently help.
Flower Essences have been used since the 1930's to help people with their own emotional problems (the most recognizable product being Rescue Remedy TM). However, now Flower Essences are widely used by vets, animal behaviourists, trainers and people with their pets to help promote balanced and well-adjusted behaviour in animals - in a natural way, without the use of chemicals. In orthodox medicine there is little help for animals in this area and the few conventional treatments there are can sometimes leave them with unwanted side effects such as drowsiness. This is where our flower essences are different because they can help to gently soothe an animal without masking their true nature. Our Pet Blends®, made using Flower Essences are specially formulated for use with animals and contain ingredients specially chosen to help address the specific problems unique to animals. |
Suitable for animals of all types and ages...
Flower Essence therapy can also be particularly beneficial for animals that have been traumatised by an event in their past, such as neglect, abuse, bad-handling or inappropriate treatment/training by previous owners. In complex cases such as this we recommend a consultation for a Personalised Blend.
